Curriculum Overview

Meet the Parents

At the start of each academic year we hold a meet the parents session.  Click on the link below to view the PowerPoint which is shared.


During this half term we will focus on the following objectives:

-In poetry this term, we will be learning how to read and interpret poetry, and also write our own. 
We will learn about imagery, simile, alliteration and use of language
-In story writing this term, we will learn how to discuss a text and write our own. 
To plan and orally rehearse before writing
To use a adverbial sentence openers
To use words ending with ‘ed;ing;ly’ at the start of my sentences
To show how a character is feeling
To use speech
To use verbs for effect
-In non-fiction this half term we will be learning about the features of Explanation texts, and we will use this knowledge to write our own. 



During this half term we will focus on the following objectives:
Counting on or back in 1s 10s 100s from any number. Count in 100s from 460 to 960. 
Know 10 and 100 more than any number- 
Know value of each digit in a 3 digit number- in one step make 478 into 978.
Read and write numerals to 1000 in digits and words
Partition 2 and 3 dig numbers in different ways 
Recall fluently addition and subtraction facts to 20
Begin to derive pairs to 100 such as 36 + 64
Know addition and subtraction facts involving multiples of 10 and 100, eg 40 + 70
Add and subtract two 2 dig numbers using place value equipment and expanded method
Begin to introduce exchange knowledge that 10 ones make 1 ten, etc
Know relationship between units of measurement- 1cm = 10mm etc
Use relationship to convert whole metres to cm
Compare mixed units of measurement- what is more, 140 cm or 1 metre 13 cm?
Know perimeter is distance around the edge of a 2d shape
Measure the perimeter of 2d shapes
Calculate the perimeter, such as 4 x 3cm
Count from zero in steps of 3,4,8
Know multiplication facts and division facts, using different vocab- multiply 4 by 5, how many 5s in 10? Etc
Learn the 3 and 8 times tables 4 x _ = 36
Know and use the inverse relationship between multiplication and division: _ x 4 = 24
Use known multiplication and division facts from known facts, such as 8x6= 48 because I know 8x5= 40 and then add another 8; 60 ÷ 3 = 20 because I know 6 ÷ 3 = 2
Multiply one digit numbers by multiple of 10
Multiply 2 digit numbers by 1 dig using grid and partitioning
